Pastor Terry Lawrence White is a native of Stamps, Arkansas. He is a graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He is also an honors graduate of the Dallas Institute of Funeral Services. He pursued further studies at Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Pastor White was called to preach the Gospel Ministry in 1981 under the leadership of Dr. Harry Blake at Mount Canaan Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was licensed and ordained by the late Reverend C. J. Wilkins at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He is the former Pastor of Samaria Baptist Church in Van Alstyne, Texas; Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas; and Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Dallas, TX.
In September 1998, he accepted the call of the Marsalis Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. Under his dynamic and visionary leadership, the church continues to grow in membership and ministry. The weekly “Prayer and Praise” Worship is the spiritual catalyst for the church, as Pastor White is a “Praying Preacher.” The church has been blessed to make property acquisitions and complete remodeling projects. In April 2007, the church completed its new addition of a 4,700 sq. ft. “Family Ministry Center” which consists of a fellowship hall, classrooms, business center, and executive office/suite.
In July 2009, he received a Certificate for Advanced Religious Study in Textual, Exegesis, Hermeneutics, and Homiletics from Oxford University in Oxford, England. He is a Sermon Contributor in book entitled Oxford Sermons Vol. 3. Pastor White is also an Alumnus of Bishop College Scholars of Proclaimers Place at Georgetown College, Georgetown, KY. In March 2018, the church sanctuary underwent another upgrade with new Video/Media Screens to enhance the Worship Experience.
Pastor White is Vice Moderator of the North Texas District Association. He is 4th Vice President of the Dallas Baptist Ministers Union; he is a member of the Oak Cliff Baptist Ministers Union, Baptist Ministers Conference, the Interdenominational Ministers Alliance, the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., where he is actively involved as the Executive Secretary/Treasurer on Home Mission Board, Foreign Mission, and National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.
He is the former owner and operator of the Angelic Mortuary in Sherman, Texas. He is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
For forty-two wonderful years, he has been married to Teresa Jones; and they have two children, Terris L. White, M.D., and Tierney White.
